Kyle Chandler Supporting Roles of 2012

Oscar contention for Best Supporting Actor is already being contemplated.  Still riding the wave ofhis recent Emmy win, Kyle Chandler finds himself in the discussion this year (and next), even though little is yet know about his performances.

Kyle Chandler in Argo (never nominated)
Role: Hamilton Jordan, who “served [President] Jimmy Carter as one of the youngest White House chiefs of staff ever” (via Atlanta Metro News)
Award Wins: N/A
Award Nominations: N/A
Notes:
Real-life figure/true story
Advantages/Pros: Finally nabbing Emmy recognition for Friday Night Lights in recent years, will Chandler have a successful crossover into regular film acting? He also has a part in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty.
Disadvantages/Cons: Lots of internal competition
Kyle Chandler in Zero Dark Thirty (never nominated)
Role: Unknown
Award Wins: N/A
Award Nominations: N/A
Notes:
Real-life figure/true story
Advantages/Pros: Kathryn Bigelow’s success with The Hurt Locker and the recent killing of Osama bin Laden ensure that this movie will be one of the most discussed of the year. That could easily lead to Oscar attention for the film itself, Bigelow, and screenwriter Mark Boal. Any chance that the actors will be recognized?
Disadvantages/Cons: Lots of internal competition (like Chandler’s other potential Oscar play)

The resemblance to Hamilton Jordan in 'Argo' is uncanny!  Most likely a key reason for casting.
